After completing homework on Machiavellianism, I found the scale developed by Valentine, S., and Fleischman, G. (2003) to be both reasonable and interesting 
- Never tell anyone the real reason you did something unless it is useful to do so.
- It is wise to flatter important people.
- It is hard to get ahead without cutting corners here and there.
- The best way to handle people is to tell them what they want to hear.
- Anyone who completely trusts anyone else is asking for trouble.
